Learn how to make homemade parchment paper liners that give muffins and cupcakes a bakery-style look. They're easy to customize for different pan sizes and peel away cleanly after baking.
Starting with a 12 x 16-inch sheet of parchment paper, divide and cut the long edge into four equal strips. Use a metal ruler as a straight edge to tear the strips or use scissors to cut. You should end with four 4x12-inch strips of parchment paper.
Next, cut each strip into three 4 x 4-inch squares.
Then use scissors to cut a 1-inch slit into all four sides of the parchment squares.
Place a parchment square in a muffin cup. Use a small can to crease the parchment into the shape of the muffin cup.
Repeat with the remaining parchment squares.
Fill with muffin or cupcake batter and bake according to your recipe.

Notes
For jumbo muffins or taller tulip-style liners, increase the size of the squares to 5 or 6 inches.
Store unused parchment squares flat in a clean, dry place until ready to use. Shape them in the muffin pan as needed.
