All you need is a sheet of parchment paper to make your muffins and cupcakes look bakery-worthy! These homemade parchment paper muffin liners are simple to make and cheaper than store-bought. Rather than crinkling paper in a pan, a few simple cuts helps them lay flat for a clean look and the parchment never sticks to what you're baking.

Katie's Notes
The last time I made a batch of muffins, I was frantically searching my kitchen for my favorite parchment paper liners. Then it hit me: I already have parchment paper. Why not just make my own?
After a little experimenting, I landed on a simple method and realized I never need to waste money on them again.
You can make these liners any size you need, whether you're baking standard muffins, jumbo muffins, or want them extra-tall like the tulip wrappers.

Supplies You'll Need
- Parchment Paper: You can use a roll of parchment paper or pre-cut sheets. These parchment paper sheets are the perfect size for 12 standard muffins.
- Stainless steel ruler: I use a metal ruler as a straight edge to tear my parchment paper into squares, rather than cutting it. It's quicker and easier than using scissors.
- Scissors
- A small jar that fits inside your muffin tin: Like a small tomato paste can.
How to Make Parchment Paper Muffin Liners
A Note Before You Start
The 4 x 4-inch squares used here are perfect for a standard muffin pan. For jumbo muffins or tulip-style liners, use 5 x 5-inch or 6 x 6-inch parchment squares instead.

- Step 1: Start with a 12x16 inch rectangle of parchment paper. Divide the 16-inch side into four equal sections to create four 4x12-inch strips.

- Step 2: Cut each strip into three 4x4-inch squares.

- Step 3: Cut a 1-inch slit into all four sides of each square.

- Step 4: Press the squares of parchment into each well of your muffin tin. Use a small can or spice jar to help press them down, if needed.

Materials
- 12x16-inch sheet of parchment paper
- 12-inch stainless steel ruler
- Pair of scissors
- Small can or jar that fits bottom of muffin tin
Instructions
- Starting with a 12 x 16-inch sheet of parchment paper, divide and cut the long edge into four equal strips. Use a metal ruler as a straight edge to tear the strips or use scissors to cut. You should end with four 4x12-inch strips of parchment paper.
- Next, cut each strip into three 4 x 4-inch squares.
- Then use scissors to cut a 1-inch slit into all four sides of the parchment squares.
- Place a parchment square in a muffin cup. Use a small can to crease the parchment into the shape of the muffin cup.
- Repeat with the remaining parchment squares.
- Fill with muffin or cupcake batter and bake according to your recipe.
Notes
- For jumbo muffins or taller tulip-style liners, increase the size of the squares to 5 or 6 inches.
- Store unused parchment squares flat in a clean, dry place until ready to use. Shape them in the muffin pan as needed.
- You do not need to grease parchment liners.
