    Why Ground Chicken?

    Ground chicken is a great protein to use in your cooking as it provides ease and flexibility. This versatile ingredient can be used to make delicious gluten-free dishes like chicken nuggets, meatballs, chicken patties, or egg roll bowls.

    Ground chicken is a great source of lean protein that is lighter in taste, fat, and calories than ground beef or ground pork. It's the perfect ingredient for making a quick and easy weeknight meals with minimal effort.

    How to Shop for Ground Chicken

    You can find ground chicken in the poultry section at the grocery store. If you can't find ground chicken, you can also substitute ground turkey in most cases.

    When shopping for ground chicken, you may find packages labeled as ground chicken, which includes light and dark meat, or ground chicken breast, which is only light meat. The former will have more fat, moisture and flavor, whereas the latter will be leaner but will tend to be a bit more dry. Either works great in most recipes!

    How to Make Ground Chicken at Home

    If you can't find ground chicken or want more control over your ingredients, you can grind chicken pieces yourself at home with a food processor or meat grinder to make your own ground chicken. To make ground chicken with a meat grinder, follow the directions specific to your meat grinder. To use a food processor follow these steps:

    • Cut boneless-skinless chicken breasts, chicken thighs, or a combination into large chunks.
    • Place in food processor bowl fitted with blade attachment.
    • Pulse until meat is ground to a uniform texture, taking care not to over process or it will turn into a paste.
    • Work in small batches for the best results.
