Recipe Love! What Readers Are Saying:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"So long Starbucks. I will never need it again. This recipe is so delicious and so EASY that I'll never need to wait for the fall for PSL again. Made exactly as written and WHEW it is GOOD!"
- Cassie (in reference to my Pumpkin Spice Sauce)
Simple Ingredients
- Pumpkin Spice Sauce: I highly recommend using my homemade Starbucks pumpkin spice sauce recipe. It is made with sweetened condensed milk, real pumpkin puree, and pumpkin spice seasoning to give this latte the creamy texture and pumpkin flavor that will rival the coffee shop version!
If you have a store-bought pumpkin spice syrup you love, you could use that too. Keep in mind pumpkin syrup is a bit different than my pumpkin sauce which contains canned pumpkin purée. Using pumpkin sauce, will be more like the original iced pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. - Brewed espresso: If you don't have an espresso machine, you can substitute a strongly brewed coffee, either from a French press or your normal coffee method.
- Milk: I used 2% milk here. You can substitute whole milk, skim milk, or a non-dairy milk if needed. See my recommendations below.
- Ice Cubes
- Whipped Cream: What's a PSL without a little whipped cream on top?! I just grabbed a can of redi-whip from the grocery store to keep it simple!
- Pumpkin pie spice: Add that classic dusting of warm spices on top, just like Starbucks.

Can I Make an Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte Dairy-Free?
You can make this iced pumpkin spice latte dairy-free by substituting with dairy-free ingredients. Here are my suggestions:
- Milk: Soy Milk or Oatly Barista Edition Oat milk, which is certified gluten-free are my top recommendations. Almond milk would also be a good choice.
- Whipped cream: Redi-whip and Aldi sell non-dairy canned whipped cream.
- Sweetened condensed milk (for pumpkin spice sauce): Use Sweetened condensed coconut milk.
Equipment
If you're in the market for an espresso machine, I highly recommend the Breville Barista Express. It's the perfect espresso machine for beginner espresso enthusiasts. It's easy to use and learn and makes delicious espresso drinks of all kinds.
Instructions
- Start by adding your pumpkin spice sauce and freshly brewed shots of espresso to your favorite tall glass.
- Give it a good stir to blend those cozy flavors together.
- Pour in the milk, leaving room for ice, then fill the rest of the glass with ice.
- Finish with a dollop of whipped cream, or even better– vanilla sweet cream cold foam or pumpkin cream cold foam, a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, and a cinnamon stick (optional) for a fancy touch.
- Enjoy every sip!

Top Recipe Tips
- Make the pumpkin spice sauce a day ahead to allow the spices to infuse into the sauce and hydrate. When used immediately after making the sauce, the spices sometimes feel like they are grainy or getting caught in your throat.
- For the best iced pumpkin spice latte, use freshly roasted coffee beans and grind just before brewing your shot of espresso.
- This recipe will make a "grande" size latte and calls for a double shot of espresso.
- Adjust the amount of pumpkin spice sauce in the latte to your desired tastes.

Recipe FAQs
An Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks contains different amounts of espresso based on the size. A Tall (12 oz) comes with 1 shot of espresso, a Grande (16 oz) includes 2 shots, and a Venti (24 oz) has 3 shots. These proportions can be adjusted if you prefer more or less espresso in your drink.
Making your own iced pumpkin spice latte lets you enjoy that iconic fall flavor whenever you want, without waiting in line or spending extra money at a coffee shop. You can control the ingredients, adjusting the sweetness and spice to suit your taste. Plus, it's satisfying to recreate a favorite drink at home, where you can customize every detail—from the type of milk to the strength of your coffee.
Whether hot or iced, the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks does not contain any gluten ingredients. Be sure to ask your barista to clean the steam wand and prepare your drink with clean utensils to avoid the risk of cross-contact from other items that may contain gluten. If you or a loved one is gluten-free, check out my gluten-free guide to Starbucks for more information.
