Bold espresso and mineral water make this Sparkling Americano one of the most refreshing coffee drinks for summer. It's crisp, bubbly, and ready in just 5 minutes.

Katie's Recipe Notes
I've never been much of a black coffee drinker, which isn't surprising given my love for a brown sugar shaken espresso. But I've been trying to cut back on sugar and with that, Sparkling Americanos quickly became my go-to.
Then again, I've always loved iced coffee and anything bubbly, so maybe it isn't that surprising. It's a refreshing change from my usual iced lattes and, in my opinion, even better than a classic Americano. The sparkling water cuts through some of the bitterness, making it a coffee drink I can sip all day long.
Ingredients

- Espresso Shots: Your choice of coffee beans is especially important in this type of drink, since there's no milk to mask the flavor. Choose good quality beans that are freshly roasted.
- Sparkling Mineral Water, such as Topo Chico or S. Pellegrino. Seltzer water, soda water, or club soda will also work.
- Ice

Breville Barista Express
I've been using the Breville Barista Express for over a year and I still love it. You can grind fresh beans, pull a great shot, and froth milk all in one setup!
How to Make a Sparkling Americano

- Step 1: Fill a tall glass with ice, then add the sparkling mineral water, leaving enough room for the espresso. Add syrup, if using.

- Step 2: Pour in a freshly brewed shot of espresso. *The drink will foam up, so be careful not to overfill the glass.
- Stir, finish with optional garnishes, and enjoy!

Try These Sparkling Americano Variations
The best part of a sparkling Americano is how easy it is to change the flavor. Try one of these simple variations depending on what you're in the mood for.
- Flavored Simple Syrup: If you're not a fan of black coffee, add a little flavored syrup. Vanilla syrup, brown sugar syrup, lavender syrup or even a plain simple syrup would be great.
- Garnish: A simple garnish makes this drink feel extra special. Lemon, lime, or orange wedges and fresh mint or basil all pair well with coffee and sparkling water.
- Cold Foam: Add a little vanilla sweet cream cold foam for a dirty soda vibe.
- Orange Juice: Rub the rim of the glass with orange peel, then add a splash of fresh orange juice. This would be such a good brunch drink!
